Edukasi Perawatan Diri dan Pengenalan Dasar Berbagai Penyakit Pada Anak dan Remaja di Panti Asuhan

Child and adolescent health protection can be achieved by increasing health knowledge, promoting personal hygiene practices, and implementing appropriate infection prevention measures, particularly among those living in densely populated environments such as orphanages. Therefore, education on self-care and disease prevention is essential to support children and adolescents in maintaining their health. The educational materials included proper handwashing techniques, maintaining the cleanliness of bed linens, towels, and clothing, regular toothbrushing, and the prevention and basic management of common illnesses such as coughs, colds, stomachaches, diarrhea, and allergies. This community service activity was conducted at the Darul Huda Mijen Orphanage and was attended by 16 children and adolescent participants. The educational methods included pre-tests and post-tests to assess knowledge, interactive lectures, mini-quizzes, and question-and-answer discussions. The results showed that the educational activity was effective in increasing participants’ knowledge and understanding of personal hygiene and basic disease prevention. Furthermore, the activity encouraged the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors and supported promotive and preventive efforts to maintain and improve the health of children and adolescents living in the orphanage.
